A newly updated home is a beautiful 3br Bohinj chalet sleeping up to 6 people just a few minutes drive from Lake Bohinj one of Slovenia's most stunning natural treasures and in close proximity to quality skiing at Vogel and a huge range of river, lake & mountain summer activities. Located in a peaceful position in a quiet village of weekend chalets, the house overlooks a lovely terrace and garden.
The space
(The chalet has been updated and improved in April 2023 so the photos may vary slightly from the finished updating) There is now a small wood burning fireplace in the living/kitchen area.
This property is new to our selection of properties, but we have around 1500 reviews on our other managed properties all with a (or near) 5 star rating.
The chalet has three bedrooms, additional attic sleeping area (pls see note at the end), large living room, fully equipped kitchen, entry room and two bathrooms. A fantastic base from which to explore Slovenia’s enchanting Lakes Region.
The Chalet is situated on the edge of the tranquil village of Bohinj Polje just a few minutes drive or a short walk (2.5km) via a scenic forest path to the majestic Lake Bohinj, a serene lake surrounded by towering peaks and pristine forests considered by many to be the most beautiful part of Slovenia.
In Summer the Lake offers the opportunity for kayaking, sailing and rowing, as well as fly-fishing, swimming or just relaxing on the lake shore. The mountains of Lake Bohinj are fantastic for walking and arguably the best place to start climbs up Slovenia's highest mountain, Triglav. They also offer scope for great mountain biking, canyoning, paragliding as well as skiing. 20 minutes drive away from the house is world famous Lake Bled.
The ski resort Vogel above Lake Bohinj is one of Slovenia’s best with good lift infrastructure and snow record. It is 5-10 minutes drive from the house to the Vogel cable car, which is also open in the Summer giving easy access to high altitude walking and mountain biking. A 5 min drive from the house is the town of Bohinjska Bistrica which offers a modern water park with ample pool and spa facilities as well as a range of useful amenities including shops, bars, restaurants & bank. There is a wide range of other ski areas in Slovenia / Italy / Austria within day trip distance from the property

Summary: Really well appointed and comfortable for a week with teenagers. Easy drive to the lake, or 40 minute walk through the forest. VRBO staff were so helpful in liaising with the housekeeper to get insect netting fitted at the windows after a couple of days as we were struggling with the heat at night and not being able to keep the windows open. No air-con at the property but I understand that temperature were unusually high for the time of year when we visited.
